About a month ago, some friends and I headed north to visit Storm King Art Center in Mountainville, New York. 500 acres of farmland are home to large-scale modern sculptures by artists including Alexander Calder, Mark diSuvero, Andy Goldsworthy, Roy Lichtenstein, Louise Nevelson, Richard Serra and many others. Most of the work was created post 1960.

Ok. I'll admit it. I am a Food Network junkie (which is probably not a surprise to a lot of people). I can tell you the names of all their chefs (past and present) and when their respective cooking shows are on. Even some of my weekly rituals are shaped by their programming schedule. However, I am discouraged that change is afoot at the network. And what bothers me most is not the new programs, but how their old cooks are "reinventing" themselves. Case in point: Paula Deen.

My due date was this past Monday, June 5, but I am still sitting here looking like I'm trying to hide a basketball under my shirt.

In a fit of apartment cleaning on a rainy Saturday, I posted an ad on Craig's List to sell my 1993 not-ridden-since-the-2002-bus-strike bike that was taking up valuable space in the kitchen. I got a few bites, but no takers. I re-posted the ad this morning and got five replies in one hour. Not surprisingly, people browse the internet looking for used bikes during the work day lull from 2-3pm.

Spring fever may have kept us from writing a Weekly Digest during the month of May, but it did not stop our contributors from sharing some wonderful story telling. From potential tragedy to triumph last month certainly wasn't boring.

Paul Pereira showed us some sugar and grew his love for Target even more. Guido Alvarez was a victim of beach larceny and Sandie Maxa wished she was a spy. Mark Sanders did not need to be transported to the hospital even though he had Spring fever, ran around a parking lot and got another haircut. And finally Alice Marie evaluated a student in more ways than one.

Have a great weekend and tell a friend about GUTSY.
